The U.S. Forest Service is proposing to repeal the Roadless Rule, removing protections from millions of acres of national forests, including the White Mountain National Forest in New Hampshire. Without these protections, roadless forests could be opened to road construction, logging, and other development, threatening wildlife habitat, clean water, recreation, and the wild character of these treasured public lands.
